Environmental Stewardship at FCC
Environmental stewardship is important at several levels.
Environmental Compliance
The first concerns the College's compliance with National and State statutes relating to the environment. These include pest management, storm water management, hazardous waste and solid waste collection and disposal.
Campus Ecology
Another level addresses the College's planning process as embodied by the campus master plan. This document addresses such issues as open space, habitats, and landscaping. It also includes opportunities to go beyond what is required and to accomplish projects that protect and restore ecological systems that exist on campus.
Environmental Resource Conservation
And there is the broader impact that we all make on the global ecology every time we use water, electricity, or consume materials. Consumption of material resources, water, and energy not only cost the College money, but it has an impact on the depletion of non-renewable global, national, and community resources, as well as, other negative consequences on global climates, health, and safety. |
